Is it wrong to do the exercising without the chanting? I am a Christian, but don’t see how exercise would be sinful on its own.

The purpose is to transform the consciousness.

There are other ways to do limbering exercises.

The exercises of yoga are designed to facilitate the rise of kundalini energy which is very important in Hinduism, as a portent to union or absorption into brahma, or what we might think of God as unmanifested absolute. Yoga means Union. Hatha yoga, a system of exercises to facilitate Union.

When you practice yoga, you are practicing Hinduism whether you chant Om or not.

I don't see where the exercises would be harmful...It's the meditation that is dangerous...You are instructed to clear your mind of all influences including that of the Holy Spirit...While making room for other spirits to take up residence...

What may not be a good idea is to be in a room filled with unclean spirits looking for a mind to take up...

We were told by one of the holiests priests around that the exercises alone are fine; it's the religion behind them that needs to be avoided.
