Are you of the opinion that the Protestantism is not connected in any way to the heresies in prior history?

What a loaded question. So, as in which heresies are you referring to? According to Trent or Orange?

But I have to say, I came to this thread to offer an opinion of the crusades as a defensive war. Yet it seems you and few others would rather battle "Prots" than Muzzies.

And given that the topic of the thread is the Crusades, I can only conclude that some people think that a new Crusade (or at least a new Inquisition) is needed to wipe all Protestants off of the face of the earth.

No, not at all. It is natural for a Catholic to see all heresies in Christian history as one single heretical spectrum; I was simply defending Biggirl's post that was reflecting that view. The question to Alex was both genuine and loaded, but you don't have to answer it, I'd rather stay on topic. I apologize for the distraction.
