why the division in the first place since Peter was supposedly the basic foundation of Roman catholicism why would any move away from that to another version?

Protestant history starts with the reformation so you might need to dig a little deeper to learn about the Christian Church.

My post was addressing the “split” in catholicism. I’m fully aware of the Protestant Reformation and why that came about but am not referencing that....rather catholism “split” itself....The division of the church between East and West is rooted deep in catholicism history. And yet catholics choose not to believe there were spilts among themselves nor “denominations/sects which branches from those splits.

Point being....they are not “one”.
