>>So aren’t you forgetting some quotes before the Ascension where Jesus imparts power and authority to Peter and the Apostles?<<

Acts 15:8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Repeating the lies of the Catholic Church doesn't change the truth of scripture.

What authority can you site that validates your assertion that Catholicism does not follow scripture? I understand that many individuals take your position however I site the authority of the Fathers, Doctors and Saints of the Catholic Church as the foundation of the principles of which I agree. If you have a more convincing authority than yourself, it could be compelling however you have presented nothing that is in the least bit persuasive.

>>Which would mean he was literally calling Peter Satan.<<

An interesting dilemma isn't it? There were other words Jesus could have used but didn't. In fact there is a distinctly different word used for devil which is used in the 1 Peter passage I gave and Jesus didn't use that either for Peter.

>>Yes. Christ's Church teaches that there exists the possibility of salvation for anyone who is ignorant of Christ<<

That's a whole lot different then saying "together with us they adore the one, merciful God". That statement simply says the Muslims and Catholics already serve the same god.

Well then consider me one of those flawed men.

It seems to me that you are alluding to Martin Luther as your authority, I do not accept him and his teachings over those of the Catholic Church’s. You are of course free to follow whichever men and their particular dogma that you feel will lead you to salvation.

With God all things are possible and I am hopeful that you and I both will one day triumphantly rejoice together with our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Based on the roman catholic catechism, their Jesus died on good Friday and raised easter Sunday..

Is that the same ‘Jesus’ Paul taught and preached when he taught passover, unleavened bread and first fruits, according to scripture?

No.

And I dare say Protestants follow the according to Rome’s version.

Different Jesus. Different gospel then Paul taught.

All warned about in scripture..

And protestant daughters have the chutzpah to share that faith in the roman version of Jesus and then declare Catholics are doomed because of what they teach and who and how they worship..

Protestants wouldn’t know Christmas without Rome.. they wouldn’t know good Friday without Rome. They wouldn’t know Easter without Rome..

They wouldn’t know those are all counterfeits without His Word..

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Now show us where the apostles taught the necessity of believing in the assumption of Mary. If you can't, then we must consider the Catholic Church who does teach it to be accursed.

“Once again tradition </spit> trumps Scripture.”

Spitting on the words of St. Paul? Shocking.

“Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.”

I am Catholic, and no where in the Bible does it say that.

Please show proof that the “traditions” Paul was talking about are the exact same “traditions” he Catholic Church claims. If you can’t then Gamecock was NOT spitting on the words of Paul.

That’s a verse from the bible not an authority. Are you yourself claiming to be the authority that states that that particular verse impugns the entire Catholic Church and all of it’s Doctrines.

Who are you and what are your credentials that I should consider your claim valid?

Pertinacious-—that’s a good word!

I appreciate your contempt, and I understand your anger. However, I don’t reciprocate. I consider you a fellow Christian. Whether you consider me the same is immaterial to me.

But when you start tossing around accusations of heresy, you might do well to remember that Scripture states over and over that Jesus is the only Rock. For a reminder, see post #35. I presented you with six separate examples, one of them from the mouth of Peter himself.

Christ will not and cannot contradict His own word, so we must accept those examples as truth.

With that in mind, could it be that believing otherwise-—that the Bible says one thing and Jesus says another, making it a lie-—is the real heresy? Just food for thought.

Again, happy Sunday to you, piusv.

Based on the Roman Catholic Catechism there is salvation for the Muslims.

So do you think that no Muslims can / should be saved? really?

No I didn’t say that, Please don’t put words in my mouth. You are NOT an authority that I recognize to make that claim.

Sheesh!

This statement is TRUE:

This statement is mind-bendingly arrogant. There is one name by which we must be saved. Perhaps surprisingly, that name does not belong to an individual church.

Actually I do not think there is any salvation in the Roman Catholic church

I agree, and thank God for bringing me out of that cult.
