"You can even have Christ in you temporarily until you need to eat Him again."

This is almost so blasphemous that I can hardly believe folks fall for it.

Deophage must have been carried over from ancient practice of ritual cannibalism. Who would think to do it today?

How so? Jesus said in Matthew 26:26 "...Take ye, and eat. This is my body." He said likewise in John 6:53 "...Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you."

What is blasphemous about this? There are many areas where we can have good discussions about the meaning of this or that bible passage, but I just don't see why Protestants are so repulsed by the exact words of Jesus Himself in these particular passages. Eat Jesus. He said so. He didn't use an allegory or a parable, he didn't speak metaphorically. He literally said, "Eat my flesh." How much clearer can it get?
