It wasn’t the reading of Scripture by one’s self that was the problem, it was the interpretation of Scripture to one’s own ends that is the problem. And the same problem has persisted since the ‘reformers’ opened Pandora’s Box.

You’re pointing out all these translation problems. How then was it OK for Luther and the boys to ‘jack it up’ further with their interpretations and additions?

My mother always said two wrongs don’t make a right, so maybe you could apply that here. I don’t think the current Lutheran doctrine is even close to what Luther meant it to be, but it really doesn’t matter. Your denomination was selling indulgences for money and kicking Jews out of Spain and that forced people to read the Bible. Once they read the Bible they realized just how wrong by your own Bible that your denomination was and is. Your denomination chooses to follow the catechism instead of your Bible and thus you think all the rest of us are wrong. The only problem is that while the the Word of God doesn’t change your catechism has changed according to the times and that will unfortunately lead to damnation.
