Some Christians wish they attended a church where the pastor or priest took a more outspoken stance against abortion. While sermons or homilies may touch on pro-life issues from time to time or not at all some Christians sit in their pews wondering why their church leader is reluctant to speak out against the human rights issues of our time.
The folks who attend Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas dont have that problem. Their Pastor Matt Chandler is no stranger to speaking up for life.
Last year, Chandler joined millions of Christians across America come together under the banner of the National Day of Prayer, but specifically working with pro-life groups to pray for an end to abortion.
Scripture clearly calls us to protect and defend the innocent, and that most certainly includes the unborn. While we should come together to pray for Gods blessing on our country, we cannot expect God to bring revival when we allow an estimated 1.2 million babies to be aborted within our shores every year. Abortion is primarily a spiritual issue, and it is, bar none, the predominant challenge for the American Christian today, observed Brian Fisher, the head of that prayer effort.
Now, Chandler has preached a sermon specifically condemning abortion as murder that is going viral:
Chandler of the Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas told parishioners during a January 25 sermon that he believes abortion is murder and that he doesnt think its a political issue, instead, calling it a scientific and a deeply theological issue. But while he was stern in his definition, he reminded the congregation that there is grace for the murderers among us.
Chandler held little back in making his stance clear to the congregation.
I need to with all the boldness that the holy spirit will grant to me tell everyone in this room that abortion is murder. It is the murder of a human being, he said. Im going to have to say it, Im going to show it to you in the word, I want to prove it to you with science. Its a holocaust like the world has yet to see.
The United States since Roe vs. Wade has blown past both of those brothers and have made them look angelic as we have slaughtered, wholesale, 55 million little boys and little girls, he said.
But rather than convict and condemn, Chandler was quick to note that the Christian gospel does not preclude anyone even murderers from receiving Gods grace. He cited Saul of Tarsus, the biblical figure who persecuted Christians before converting to the faith and penning a fair amount of the New Testament, in making his point.
I am no fool: There are murderers among us. And so at the same time that I prophetically, and boldly, and courageously say abortion is murder I also need to step into this space knowing that we are guilty of it many of us are guilty of it, he said. And maybe we werent the ones that had the abortion, but maybe we coerced and pressed somebody to have the abortion, or just paid for the abortion.
Regardless of these facts, Chandler said that all hope isnt lost, as God is forgiving.
I need to say to you, listen to me: Where the volume of sin increases, the volume of grace always abounds much more he said, adding his belief that murder is not a disqualifying sin when it comes to discovering Gods forgiveness. The grace and mercy of God covers sin.

Few pastors would be so bold calling abortion what it is.....
....while still preaching of repentance and mercy.
Of course it’s murder.......
....and of course it’s our American Holocaust.
Our nation has corporately murdered over 50 million children.
Someone needs to tell the author of this piece, and those he allies himself with, that it’s still murder even if the victim supposedly can’t feel pain, or if human instruments cannot yet detect a heartbeat, or if the one who hires the hit man has viewed a picture of the victim, or if the hit man has admitting privileges at a hospital, etc.
Not sure what you’re responding to, maybe you should read it again.
I read it fine. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy of the author of the piece. He’s someone who supports policies that countenance and codify the murder of certain classes of human beings.
If we like pastors who tell the truth about abortion, we should apply the same standard to everyone else, shouldn’t we?
EV is of the mistaken belief that IF pro-lifers support the bills that limit abortions by enabling the 'requiements' he listed, _that_ we actually support the flip-side of those limits as 'good reasons to get an abortion'.
EV refuses to believe that we're making as best headway that we can for now, rescuing who we can for now, while making a strong effort to come back and rescue _all_ of the innocent, _when_ it is possible.
Your claim that it saves some is Utilitarian, not moral or constitutional. And it is also an assertion without any facts in evidence.
In fact, as I’ve explained many times, such lawless, immoral, unconstitutional legislation has the opposite claimed effect, since it surrenders the only two real moral, constitutional and legal arguments against the practice of abortion, every single time, right up front.
You don’t win wars by surrendering your only weapons.
Never happens, though, in the real world. Once you've compromised away the concept of unalienable, God-given right and equal protection under the law, you're on the slippery slope to the bottom.
If you have the power to regulate mass murder, you have the power to stop it entirely.
Stop fooling yourself, or being fooled by "LifeNews."
Abortion isn’t uniquely American. It is worldwide sadly and in some places the numbers exceed America like China for instance.
top 5 nations
China 7,930,000 rate 26.1 per 1,000 women
Russia 2,287,300 rate 68.4 per 1,000 women
Vietnam 1,520,000 rate 83.3 per 1,000 women
USA 1,365,700 rate 22.9 per 1,000 women
Ukraine 635,600 rate 57.2 per 1,000 women
Other than your obfuscating posts....
...have YOU ever run interference on abortion,.....ie, volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center.?.......risking arrest to try to effect change?.........sending helpful donations to pro life groups?......ETC.
Sadly, I am well aware this is a universal mass killing.
Obfuscating?
I’m being as clear as I can possibly be.
The incrementalist approach to fighting abortion never has, and cannot ever, work, for the simple reason that the God-given, unalienable right to life, and the principle of equality before the law, are all or nothing propositions, by definition. The individual is either alive, or they are dead. They are, each and every one, either treated equally, or there is no longer any equality. Quit surrendering the only moral, constitutional, legal and political weapons against the practice of human abortion. When you surrender, you have already lost the war.
What could be clearer than that?
Good for him!!!!!!
So, we’ve got a pastor telling his flock that abortion is murder. Great. All of them should do that. But, everyone already knows, intrinsically, that abortion is murder, and that murder is wrong. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are lying, to you, and, probably, to themselves.
The real question is not whether abortion is murder, it’s what are Christians going to do about it?
Are they going to continue to offer political aid and comfort to the practice of murdering millions of innocent children, or are they going to put a stop to it, entirely?
Fact is, if the Christians in this country would simply stop compromising on the defense of the God-given, unalienable, individual right to life, and on equality before the law, the holocaust would come to a speedy end.
But as long as they keep buying the Utilitarian, incrementalist lies that continue to codify permission to commit abortion, as long as the murders are committed on schedule and by the “pro-life movement’s” rules, and thereby assure the continuation of abortion on demand, they will never do that.
And God, surely, shall destroy us as a nation.
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
— Thomas Jefferson
The clock is ticking...
You dont win wars by surrendering your only weapons.
**********************************
You win wars by taking the ground that you can , living to fight another day and taking more ground at that time until eventually you have taken all of the enemies homeland or they surrender.
I for one am all for a federal 20 week ban with the “and then you can kill the baby” loopholes because I know in at least 30 states we can add on state mandated rape reporting and mandatory dna evidence gathering requirements which will put these clinics in deadly jeopardy if they don’t facilitate falsely accuse hundreds of thousands of men of rape ... it throws a HUGE monkey wrench into their machine and destroys their arguments from within...
Soldiers who claim they are going to eventually win a war by throwing down their weapons and ammo and stripping buck naked before walking into enemy territory, are only fooling themselves. Sorry.
You’re not destroying the other sides arguments. You’re destroying ours. The only ones we’ve got.
Incrementalism worked for ending slavery ,, it made minor improvements , kept new states free and swayed public opinion so that eventually an outright ban could be put in place with Lincoln...
You don’t win a war by parachuting into the opposing generals camp and declaring victory , you take them foot by foot... if we win this with a SC victory it won’t last... we need a clear majority of the people on our side , not 51% ,, but 66% to 75% I would say..
Further codification of explicit permission to kill babies, as long as the slaughter is done by the rules.
Which is an explicit violation of the Law of God, "you shall not murder," and the explicit, imperative requirements of the Fifth and the Fourteenth amendments that every single person, in every jurisdiction, be provided the equal protection of the laws, first and foremost in their right to live.
You can never succeed by violating the laws of nature and nature's God and the absolute requirements of the supreme law of the land.
All you're gaining is a whole passel of oath-breaking politicians.
Just what we need, right?
How are you going to convince them without the only moral, constitutional, and legal arguments against abortion?
If you don't even believe in those things in any way that actually matters, why should they?
The Christians in the church of which I’m a member don’t commit murder. Why would our preacher need to preach against it, when we’ve overcome that sin? Just to prove he’s “not afraid to”?
What we need instead is to hear about the sins we still battle against, and about the faith which overcomes them.
