Common sense says God has no mother....He is not a created being...He is the creator. To infer that because the Biblical Mary ‘bore’ Jesus makes her Gods Mother is only done so as to keep the cult of Mariology in it's place and thriving among it's membership to Romes advantage.
Therefore.... we who are not catholics do understand the arguements and debates regarding her, they've been presented years now for those of us who have been here awhile......so with that we of course reject the idea, as catholics present their mary, as 'something else' then the Biblical account of Mary. Prefering instead to believe in the absolute Centrality of Jesus Christ as he presents Himself to be and this according to that which is written..
Very briefly, since I must be about my business..you do well to use the lower case c - catholic because that means "universal." Which relates to what was believed by everyone in every place. Of course, Arius stood up and had to be slapped down.
Suggest to perhaps lay aside the frustration noted in engaging the argument. Gain some more understanding of the neutral facts of the history and the issues involved and the possible consequences of unchecked error and let your own mind grapple with that.
Preach it, sister!!!!
Well said.
Such strident reactions shouldn't, of course, prevent us from at least trying to explain our positions and reasons for rejecting their dogmas - and they ARE solid and Biblical ones. Until and unless God first opens eyes and hearts to the truth of the Gospel of grace, arguing one-on-one may only be like talking to a wall. There is a blindness that outraged Mary devotees don't realize they have. It's a good idea to remember that we are commanded to always "speak the truth in love" and to "answer everyone that asks us of the hope that is within us with gentleness and respect". God will honor our words and His truth WILL reach hearts He has prepared for it.
