catholics have to be 100% subject to the pope

Only in areas where his authority is lawful. If the Pope tried to tell me to buy a red Ford instead of a yellow Chevy, he's out-of-bounds. Similarly, if he starts telling me what to believe about a scientific question that has no bearing on the truths of the faith, he's also out-of-bounds. The same is true of any other authority; a President who tries to tell me what to believe about religion is outside his lawful authority.

"Furthermore, in this one Church of Christ no man can be or remain who does not accept, recognize and obey the authority and supremacy of Peter and his legitimate successors." (Pope Pius XI, Encyclical, Mortalium animos, January 6, 1928, The Papal Encyclicals, Claudia Carlen, I.H.M., McGrath Publishing Co., 1981, pp. 317, 318).

PPXI didn't leave much room for negotiation there.

You know, if sure helps if you follow the thread on this. This reply about being 100% subject to the pope dealt with the CCC's statement on catholics and islam. Biggirl took exception to this. She noted would basically do her own thing.

This is what she didn't agree with.

The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day. ccc841

As this is a matter of faith, biggirl and all catholics have to subject to the pope/church on this. No deviations allowed. Ya'll are the Borg on these matters.
