If you want to take a try at answering my question to CB feel free. Again I asked:

“Riight, and by what authority do you believe you can make this claim? Your own word?

“Or wait, let me guess you’re going to say something like ‘Not by my own authority but the Word of God as Scripture says...’, in other words a circular argument.”

I see no reason to go down a rabbit trail such as you suggest until and unless my question is answered.

here is the Bible, find out for yourself.

Yep. Now, they didn't exactly throw me to the wolves, so to speak. They helped me. The Navs are very good at followup and Christian training. I have witnessed to MANY people and I have heard just about every excuse there is for not becoming a Christian. None of them, however will hold water.

“Riight, and by what authority do you believe you can make this claim? Your own word?

Then by the same authority that you decide to believe what you believe.

Everyone has to decide form themselves what they believe and in every case it becomes each person's own personal interpretation of Scripture.

The fact that Catholics have decided to throw in their lot with the pre-packaged teachings of Catholicism makes it no less their own personal interpretation of Scripture than anyone else's.

Whether you work through it on your own or just accept some else's work, the individual at some point, needs to decide that that interpretation is correct and accept it.

It is therefore, a PERSONAL decision on the part of each and every person. The fact that it happens to agree with other's interpretations does not negate the fact that individually, each person has decided on their own, what they are going to believe, what they are going to accept as truth.

So CB and I and a whole bunch of others, throw in out lot with Scripture under the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Others accept church teachings in lieu of that.

I see no reason to go down a rabbit trail such as ...

No reason to leave the trail you already took! It is more often referred to as the "garden path*"!

There is no foundation we can have other than Scripture to lead us into all Truth, as inspired by God's Holy Spirit.

* "led up the garden path", an idiom suggesting that one is being deceived or led astray.

>>Please good people of FR, can we just choose to believe the best of our fellow Freepers?<<

Don't worry. The cumbaya, let's all get along crowd is working to join all religion under one as we speak. Be advised however that true followers of Christ will not be a part of that.

>>Riiight, and by what authority do you believe you can make this claim? Your own word?<<

Oh no, not my own word.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

And no, I don't expect you to understand that.

Of course! As well as symbols from every pagan religion known. It's all to make them feel welcome in the one world religion. Cardinal Newman admitted such.

"We are told in various ways by Eusebius that Constantine in order to recommend the new religion to the heathen transferred into it the outward ornaments to which they had been accustomed in their own. [Cardinal Newman, Development of the Christian Doctrine pg 373]

Mary is stepping on the moon, as the woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars!

Well, it's about time you folks came up with an answer! Interesting choice of sites,

DECEPTION IN THE CHURCH dot com?

You also left out the next sentence:The photo of that gesture has been shown repeatedly on Iraqi television and it demonstrates that the Pope is not only aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people, he has also great respect for Islam."

The photo was taken in 1995. Saddam Hussein was still in power. The Iraqi people were under oppression. It is worthwhile to mention that JPII, as he is affectionately known, loved all people of all faiths. He wasn't hating and relishing the idea of people going to hell. He grew up with Jews and saw their persecution under the Nazis, because he lived among the Jews and was in danger himself for practicing his Faith. When the Communists took over, he stood his ground and remained in his formation of the Catholics under his care as Archbishop of Krakow. He was not about war, he was about loving even your enemies. Gee, didn't Jesus say we should do that?

BTW, Why are you answering for Metmom's post, and why have you still not answered my last post to you? God bless you, Bear! Believe as you choose! Continue to interpret Scripture as you see fit, I'm sticking with my Catholic Faith!

in every case it becomes each person's own personal interpretation of Scripture.

Not every case! There are those of us Catholics who follow the Magisterium that is, teaching authority, of the Church. I choose to be Catholic.

What I read here are impositions of others' self-interpreted beliefs in a forum about the Catholic Church which takes the original topic off-track!

I agree. What a hateful unloving thing it would be to knowingly allow others to perish in error without saying something.

Your prayer is worthless, and will not be heard by God.

Let's let God decide that, shall we?

Just because you decided to accept the Catholic church’s interpretation as your own does not make it any less your own.

You still, personally, had to decide that you thought it was correct.

Nice attempt at defending the indefensible but scripture doesn't allow for that.

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

BTW When you mention someone in a post that person is supposed to be pinged.

Hi MamaB!

I will continue to defend my SB beliefs when we are told we are going to hell because we are not catholic. No religion has a right to declare they are the only way to heaven. Some protestants say the same about their church and I do not believe them either. No where in the Bible does it say we have to be Catholic or another denomination.

I'm Catholic, and have been vehemently criticised for my belief that Jesus died for all mankind; that we need to love God and love our neighbor. Each of us believes our Churches, yours Southern Baptist and mine Roman Catholic, has the fullness of the Truth. If a person believes they've found the truth in a denomination, why would they not choose to belong? God bless you! Keep the faith, rejoice in it, and may it give you joy, peace, and all the other Fruits of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture! And may we meet someday together in Heaven!

God be with you!
