This thread was posted for the sole purpose of causing controversy on FR

This thread was posted to compared catholicism's man-made teachings with the teachings of the Bible's.

If catholicism cannot stand up to scrutiny on this issue when compared to the Word then all threads regarding Catholicism need to be pulled.

I did not hide it behind a "caucus" thread, as some do, to keep discussion away. This issue needs to be discussed. Either the man-made teachings on catholicism are right or the Biblical position is right. They both can't be. No where in the Word do we see anyone worshipping Mary.

Recall when the Wise Men came to see Christ after He was born the Bible records the Wise Men came into the House, saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell to the ground and worshipped Him. Not Mary. Not Joseph. They worshipped Christ by falling to their knees. And catholics tell us when they're on their knees before a man-made image of Mary they're not worshipping Mary??

Last time I checked this was Free Republic where we still have a right to post.

You attempt to win your argument by redefining the Church’s distinction of latria, the respect honor and obedience due to God alone, confusing it with the respect due to those especially worthy persons we call saints.
The claim that Mary is unable to help anyone because she is dead is unscriptural (Lk 20, Jn12, Mt 17:3) and defies history (Lepanto, Guadelupe, Fatima).
