And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.(Revelation 12:5-12)
The Woman eventually gave birth to the Man-child. The promised seed of the woman was born, the Dragon was unable to prevent him, nor stop him in his mission to bring salvation and deliverance to men.
Now for the first time men were rendered able to overcome the Dragon. By his death and resurrection, The Man-child conquered death, and brought men back into fellowship and righteousness with God.He put men back on Gods side.
The shed blood of the Man-child, would be fallen mans answer to God for their sins. Sinners could now renounce their own sinful lives, and exchange them for His substitute life. Satan would no longer reign supremely, because self would be dethroned, through the sacrificial death and resurrection of the Man-child.
They no longer fear death, for they have been delivered from sin, which is the sting of death.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.(Revelation 12:10-11)
Now on earth, there is a company of believers, who have died and been raised again unto new life, the vanguard of a New Creation, out of the grasp of the serpent and into the hands of God, in the world but not of it. They are the seed of the woman, for the church is in a direct continuity with Israel.
The day will come, when the Dragon will lose all access to the courts of heaven.Satan has long stood there as the adversary and prosecuting attorney, bringing charges before the Lord, against Israel and the church.
But as this present age draws to a close, Michael the Angel and defender of Israel rises up, and war breaks out in Heaven (and on earth).
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.(Daniel 12:1)
The result of the war in heaven? The Dragon, who is the serpent of old, the devil and Satan, is cast out of the heavens to the earth, for a short time. How long? Three and a half years.
This time period is so important, it is repeated in three different ways in scripture.
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.(Revelation 12:6)
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.(Revelation 12:14)
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.(Revelation 13:4-5)
The woman flees, into the wilderness where she is helped by God, repeating the Exodus, dwelling in tents and sustained by God, for three and a half years.
The Devil is cast down to earth in great fury, for a short time, three and a half years.
The Dragon receives worship through his human regent, the Beast, for three and a half years.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the sea, (The earth is Israel, the sea are the nations)! The Devil has come down to you knowing he has but a little time. The time is called The affliction, the Time of Jacobs trouble, Night, and The great tribulation, and Tribulation such as the world has never seen before nor shall it ever see again.. How long Oh Lord, How Long?
A time,times and a half a time, or forty-two months, or 1,260 days
three and a half years.
What an interesting turn of phrase. Explain "continuity".
I would suggest extensive study of the temple described by Ezekiel compared to the first two temples before making comments like that.
The 19th of May, 1780, was a remarkable day. Candles were lighted in many houses; the birds were silent and disappeared, and the fowls retired to roost. The legislature of Connecticut was then in session at Hartford. A very general opinion prevailed, that the day of judgment was at hand.
The house of Representatives, being unable to transact their business, adjourned. A proposal to adjourn the Council was under consideration. When the opinion of Colonel Davenport was asked, he answered, "I am against an adjournment. The day of judgment is either approaching, or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause of an adjournment: if it is, I choose to be found doing my duty. I wish therefore that candles may be brought."
As do people who completely misinterpret them.
Thanks CB-great question- the church is the continuity of God’s preparatory work through the creation and founding of the nation of Israel. Thechurch is founded upon the revelation given to the prophets of Israel and the apostles of Jesus, the messiah of the church is the jewish Messiah, and the God of the church id the God of Israel. The church is not ISRAEL, but has been grafted into the tree Israel (Romans 11) and brought into the “commonwealth of Israel” Eph 2)
Israel is to the church as the caterpillar is to the butterfly.
That's the beginning of understanding much of prophesy for the future isn't it. And Daniels 70th week is a week long, not 3 1/2 days.
None of that negates the promise of 490 years to the Israelites as a specific people apart from the Gentiles. There are still 7 years of that promise left unfulfilled. Unfulfilled prophesy demands that the nation of Israel will for that last seven years be dealt with as a distinct people apart from the Gentiles. That will happen after “the fullness of the Gentiles” has come in. During this “age of grace” there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile. That will change during that last seven years.
saved for later reading....thanks
That's OK. I can agree to disagree with someone and still respect their opinion and break bread with them.
You Are right- the “Stop watch” shut off at 69 weeks, 483 years, when Messiah the prince was “cut off” but not for himself but for the people. It is soon to began the final countdown, 7 years of God’s dealings with Israel. But the “Great tribulation is the last half of that week.
The wrath of God begins early in that seven year period however. We see that it had already started with the opening of the first seals in Revelation 6. The Tribulation period is seven years. The great tribulation is the last half of those seven years. Those who are saved during this age of grace will no longer be on earth during that entire seven years.
Ezekiel says there will be a third temple, huh, any Scriptural reference to support that assertion?
Why didn't you do a comparison with the temple prescribed by Ezekiel with the the others? It starts in chapter 40. Until you can show that those dimensions are exactly as they were for the temple destroyed in 70AD we have nothing to discuss pertaining to that.
No argument from me that the temple described was not the one destroyed in 70ad.
This “temple” is spiritual and describes the heavenly Jerusalem. Ch43 v7 says God will dwell in the midst of the people of Israel forever. This can not be an earthly temple.
So there is going to be burnt offerings in the temple in heavenly Jerusalem? Who knew? I wonder where the animals will be raised and the grain grown. And then all the land around the temple. Do you suppose their is land in heaven?
