I was in line for confession with my boys one Saturday, and the person ahead of us was an 85-year-old woman in a wheelchair. She was in the room with Father for a long time, and one of my sons said, “Wow, she has a LOT of sins!”

Exactly. I am happy being Catholic, even if I am am not always happy with all Catholics. But that does not keep me from being Catholic. I am just doing my pilgrimage. on another thread the pope is getting beat up for doing his pilgrimage in Turkey! Go figure.

I feel the same.
People will always be people.
Lol. I am always surprised why non-Catholics give a rats where the Pope goes or what he says. Why would anyone but Catholics care?

I think they protest too much. But, then they are PROTESTANTS.

It could, in theory, have been her first confession in decades ... but I know her and her daughter. They’re regulars. I’m sure she was just chatting with Father, not thinking about my little boys’ having to wait.

Lol. I'm sure that you're right. :o)
Cute story, though.

Do you remember Art Linkletter? At the end of his show he always had four kids up on the stage and he would always ask them questions.

He did write a book: Kids Say the Darndest things.

Several times when I’ve been waiting for Confession with my children, people have said, “You already have your penance!”

But I have all the laughs, too. I had six of them singing songs from “The Aristocats” this afternoon, and when I told them to stop it, they switched to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Even the 2-year-old.

I have a laugh for you: I didn't know that the "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a rock song. Lol. I thought it might be legitimate opera. Silly me.

I saw "LA BOHEME" this past Sunday at the opera. Had my hanky out, though the soprano wasn't the best. The tenor was fabulous but didn't have the "Pavarotti" volume. Few do.

Ten thousand years from now "LA BOHEME" will still be making people weep at the beauty of those melodies.

I've seen the movie version with Placido Domingo, who is the cutest ever tenor.

It's possible that people will still be laughing at "Bohemian Rhapsody," ten thousand years from now. It depends on what texts survive the cataclysm. Who knows, the future may even think it was serious!

So, Catholics are sure they’re going to heaven after all?

I’ve been told time and again that that is the sin of presumption.

worrying involves making a conscious decision. We have to decide that we’re going to worry.

This is not always true. Many times I have woken up and the very first thought was an anxious one -- followed by hours of uncontrollable rumination. No one in he psychiatric professions seriously believes you can successfully will this kind of emotive waterfall to stop. It requires pharmaceutical or another type of professional intervention.

It’s not a worry if one avails himself/herself of the Sacraments frequently. (Reconciliation, Eucharist, Anointing of the Sick when ill, etc.)

Pelosi et. al. are going to heaven? I think it has to be a confession in good faith, etc., to get that kind of guarantee (if even then).
