Can't blame the Church. The Pope has apparently gone rogue. Maybe he has apostatized. Maybe he is demented. Maybe he has been marinating in modernism for so long that he doesn't understand that his role as the Vicar of Christ is to guard and transmit the Deposit of Faith. It's a mystery.
I cannot imaging that his views were not known, at least by enough to spread the word among the Cardinals. How on earth was he selected to be Pope???
