Daniel Joseph

A beautiful name. God’s dream interpeters.

Continued prayers for his healing and strength, and comfort for his parents and whole family.

Everyone: Thanks again for your touching comments and prayers for our sweet baby. I’m going to print this thread for my son and DIL.

I also want to post a short update and be more specific as to needed prayer for Daniel Joseph...

He was born with a condition called pulmonary atresia (which is congenital). He also has a hole in the wall of the right and left atria, along with a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) - a temporary blood vessel that normally closes shortly after birth.

The diagnostic part of the angioplasty found that the pulmonary artery was closed off (intact ventricular septum), so an opening was created. The cardiology team at Egleston feel reasonably confident that this will remain open, but if necessary, they will go back in and place a stent.

My son has traveled to Egleston in Atlanta every day since they took his baby there, but Mother and baby had not had very much time together since birth due to his condition and hers (she had a C-section and had to be put under).

So they finally got to be together on Thursday evening. Prior to that, my DIL was concerned because her milk hadn’t started coming. After the visit, it happened. What a miraculous thing that is! They were together again today and Daniel responded to her in a way that he hasn’t with anyone else. He knows her smell and her voice, of course. One of his stomach tubes was removed today and he was taken off one medication.

He still can’t be held and that breaks my heart.

DIL also needs prayer. She cries constantly and has blamed herself. The long trips to Egleston leave her feeling nauseous and her feet swell badly, but she’s insisted on going both times.

There’s a reason for everything. Yes, even this. We may never know what it is in this lifetime, but one day we will. My faith is intact.
