Not exactly. You can find separate commentaries on most Bibles including your NABRE, and also the Eastern Orthodox Bible.

In the age of E-readers, tablets and apps it is easy to link in footnotes and hyperlink commentary if the reader so desires.

The tablets or mobile devices also make it easy to carry an entire library around on one device.
