Are Joel Osteen's teachings Biblical? Are they in line with ancient church belief? What does he teach and where do his views come from? This documentary is the most comprehensive video refutation and expose of Joel Osteen that exists. Feel free to upload this video to your channel and share it with anyone deceived into prosperity teachings. www.KeithTruth.com
We never did the santa claus thing growing up, and my kids have never done it either. My youngest daughter, when about 4, really wanted to believe in Santa but she trusted us instead. It was kinda funny to see her little mind trying to square it all away.
I have heard some discussion about 12 tribes and 12 months is no coincidence. But I don’t know much about it.
We had a Jewish pastor for a few years, really interesting. He knew how to pronounce biblical names correctly, could explain small/obscure details in the parables and stories of Jesus from a ‘grew up in Israel as a Jew’ perspective. Served and fought in the IDF, used to take friends to Israel and show them historical points of interest and where he lost the rest of his squad in 1973 (I think).
As for the birth of Jesus, some speculate the feast of tabernacles was fulfilled by His birth. If so, conception may have happened around the ‘christmas’ time frame.
I agree Jesus fulfilled the passover. And I believe his return will fulfill another feast, and that much of his life was a fulfillment of everything that the Jews had been looking forward to.
But I don’t think it is bad to celebrate dates that were once in the future and are now in the past. If you are married, I imagine your wife feels the same way about your anniversary. At one point, it was a much anticipated date, now fulfilled. But it is still a good idea to remember it and celebrate it.
We often think that the feasts were ‘just a Jewish thing’. Leviticus 23, verses 1 & 2 present a different view: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.’
When we celebrate the passover at church, we try to do things the way the Jews would have done them so many years ago. We don’t slaughter a lamb, but we do serve it. We had several courses to the meal and were taught what each part of the meal meant then, and then the fulfillment in the offering of the Lamb of God. A lot of meaning in the selection of not just the lamb, but the herbs that were served, stuff like that.
>>Your post 22 is too full of contradictions of yourself in the same post<<
HUH?
Yoda speak? Good grief.
I apologize if I missed your sense of humor...that's if you're trying to be funny.
No idea what your talking about.
No debate of any kind is tolerable on RF threads labeled Devotional.
You have in a nutshell explained how misguided are the American people.
I misread your post 22 and understood it wrongly because of my poor comprehensive of the way you structured a sentence.
It really wasn’t backwards Yoda-speak at all.
I was in error.
...comprehension...
The religion moderator doesn’t agree with every form of Christianity brought up on Free Republic. He does protect threads marked as devotional as it is a place for like-minded people to gather w/o the arrows of those who believe differently. He’s not the Pope of Free Republic.
If you want to discuss Joel from different points of view, post an open thread like this one. Just don’t engage in personal attacks on other Freepers in open discussion threads. Like don’t say, for example, “Vision, you are a devil for listening to and believing in Joel.” Keep comments in the format of a general discussion about the topic in open threads.
I’m not speaking for the religion moderator and never made that claim. I am speaking from my own observation of the religion moderator over many moons.
I’m sorry you have gathered that he acts like the Pope of Free Republic. I don’t share that experience of him.
On FR threads marked as "Devotional", that's where.
Yappity yap. : )
I do not judge posters’ beliefs. I enforce the guidelines. If you do not approve of Osteen, then ignore the Osteen devotionals altogether.
We obviously will not make the Religion Forum a single belief forum. For instance, posters who are anti-CatholicISM must endure the fact that the Catholic Caucus posts daily. They must not engage on those threads at all.
If you cannot or will not ignore the Osteen devotionals, then you should ignore the Religion Forum altogether. To do this, do NOT use the "everything" option on the Free Republic browse option list. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."
I have always been curious to know what the rules are if someone would post the same content as in the Osteen devotionals but not call it a devotional. Then, others, or the OP could show the error in it. Is this a valid way of refuting the Osteen false doctrine and not violate the devotional thread rules?
Well, there's a whole thread right here(!) that is not a "devotional" thread.
Dispute, refute, or refrain from saying anything, as one sees best fitting.
I've seen it done.
And why not?
Even if something was protected with 'Caucus' designation (or as we say on the RF, 'caucused up') it does not mean the subject itself or any particular article is off-limits to everyone else.
