Saint of the Day Ping!
I haven’t prayed to St. Jude recently, but maybe that’s what we need to do.
For our country.
And, maybe, for the Catholic Church, if half the things said about Pope Francis are actually true.
>When I first moved to Texas, I was baffled by the religious candles for sale in the supermarkets.<
.
If you would have arrived here 50 years earlier, you would not have found them in this profusion.
It’s a “Southern” influence.
Love St. Jude.
Good idea! Excellent in fact. I will do it, Who will join? Can we do a daily thread? Or is that to much?
I think if you want to dip your foot in and see how it works, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
I’ve frequently said that the Republican Party is basically dead, and at this point unsalvageable. The Tea Party is good, but it is split, divided, and necessarily without leadership at the top.
Frankly, what we need is something like a great religious revival. There have been bad times in the Church in earlier centuries, and what was needed was for God to raise up new saints and fill the hearts of the faithful with His Spirit.
As for America, it has often been pointed out that if people are unwilling to discipline themselves and to follow God’s laws, then the government will step in and do it for them. Freedom is a gift from God, although many or most libertarians hate to admit it.
Ping!
Well, I’ll see what I can come up with in the AM.
The chosen Patron Saint of our household...
Yes.
I have no idea of his religious practiced. They have found several cures for childhood cancers....For me, St Frances always answers my prayers for lost items...One item took 8 years to find it....in the back of my closet on a christmas music box that I had forgotten was in the closet until I decided to clean the shelves. There sat my engagement ring on top of the christmas tree. Some prayers are answer much faster....He never fails....
Its okay, it’s not the Saints who answer prayers. They make themselves available to help us focus on God. No saint would ever claim they did anything at all. Which is why, of course, they can be trusted with prayers :)
You are right, no saint ever answered a prayer, but I read someplace in the bible that a angel with a censor of prayers that rise before the throne God as sweet smelling smoke. I paraphrase this. But I believe the saints prayers are heard by God. Some are more effective than others.. The saints intercede for us before God.. just my opinion....
You corrected before I could post. I was going to say St. Anthony is faster. :)
A friend lost her diamond out of her wedding ring when we were doing vacation Bible school and we got to talking about St. Anthony and we all said a prayer and started crawling around looking for the diamond. She had already had crawled around looking for it before we all got there. Next thing you know we found it!
We had even used the kids version. "Tony, Tony turn around somethings lost that must be found".
Glad your teeth turned up.
I don't care what they say. I know one time I was in a situation that was rather hopeless and I could not get myself out of it and I prayed to the Blessed Mother for weeks and sure enough the walls of hopelessness came down and I was suddenly free of that situation. It works. Like I said I know not how exactly, but it works.
lol glad my teeth turned up also....
