I don’t know, maybe I have low standards, but creating the entire known universe out of something smaller than a mustard seed (and creating the mustard seed, too) seems rather magical to me. Creating life from inorganic chemicals, directing history, etc. just adds to the wonder.
Maybe he expects making a woman out of a man, or splitting the sea, or ... oh, wait.
I’m Jewish, so I look at God as being the ultimate magician (and everything else). Do Catholics have a different view of things, or is it just that this Pope is as Catholic as Obama is American?
Magicians are illusionists. God is a Creator. Ex nihlo type.
And speaking the stars into existence seems magical to me....but I'm not God. It's easy for Him; me, I can hardly comprehend it.
“...Creating life from inorganic chemicals, directing history, etc. just adds to the wonder...”
Well put!! Excellent insight and God the Father is indeed the One Great Magician in a profound and awesome sense. The psalms contain many praises about the wonders of God’s creation ...
There is almost no fossil layer evidence of “transition” creatures manifesting one species becoming another. There are mutation fossils but these occur within species. It is VERY likely that God created His creatures separately using His “magic” inorganic chemical building blocks.
However, I am not anti science and don’t necessarily think that creation HAS to be taken “literally”. However, God can do anything, so why not the creation version?
Great post.
