My husband and I were trying to figure out what those gifts were? Splendid designs of surpluses? As much as I love Michelangelo, I’m still not sure of those Swiss Guard uniforms, lol!
Actually, those "gifts" are no different than the ones offered by anyone of us We have two gay parishioners in our very small parish. Both have donated their time and talent through construction of permanent signs, serving on various committees, organizing events, ushering, lectoring, and the list goes on and on. One of them cared for aging parents, praying at their bedside, ensuring they were attended to by our pastor and received a proper Catholic funeral mass and burial. (the straight sibling simply showed up for the wake and burial). Both individuals practice a humble faith. As a parish, we are all indebted to their "gifts".
Not all of a person's being is tied up in how they use their genitals. Not all homosexuals are activists out to destroy family and marriage. While we don't want to elevate them to special positions in religious organizations, we also don't want to emulate Jonah and run from them to deny them the opportunity to be saved.
