666 has meaning behind it. John the Revelator was Hebrew. He would have known that each Hebrew letter of the alphabet (which is a number too) has a meaning and/or symbol to it. In the scripture it was written as six hundred and sixty six. Not 666. I find the meaning of this is to be "in the end times, a head will emerge, Satan (snake), and will hook people into sin(disbelief in my book). Allow me to show you how it works by viewing this:
I believe that the letters used to write six hundred and sixty six would be the letter Tav because it equals 400, the letter Resh because it equals 200 and these two added together would equal six hundred. The letter Samech would be used to represent 60, the letter Vav would be used to represent the number 6. So, John would have used the letters Tav, Resh, Samech, and Vav (Vav can be written vav or waw depending on some people translate Hebrew) to represent six hundred and sixty six. Tav has a meaning of "end of existence". Resh has a meaning of "emerging head". Samech has a meaning of Satan or snake. And Vav has a meaning of hook and sin. In any case, you can find through these letters and symbols how John would have used Tav, Resh, Samech, and Vav to represent Satan and his prophetic future.
“Replace the kingdom of God with the mark of the beast (in a manner of speaking, for comparison’s sake) and you get:”
But why would one change the message given to us? Our goal is to find the best translation and meaning possible based upon the message provided by our Savior. To purposely change the message changes the direction of our focus. I prefer to focus on what I desire, not what I desire not. Thus I prefer to focus on Jesus and if by chance the beast is also within me he will be replaced by that which I seek.
You posted a comment #34 in an open forum to which I responded with a comment in post #43.
You then posted in #123 a question to me, so I answered your question in post #128.
Why the heck would you send me this message?
" RetiredArmy | 10/19/2014 5:01:54 PM PDT new Your quoting Catholic saints to me. Is that meaning that you are a Catholic? If so, I am sorry, but I do not follow your religion. So, quit writing to me. I aint buying your apostate pope who says we all pray to the same God and that the atheists will be in heaven with me. Wrong. Aint happening. Were done here. Good bye."
I have never written you at all(At least not in the past five years). I have only posted in the forum in response to your posts and questions. You have written to me!!!
If I have offended, please accept my apologies. In learning scripture I always pray and meditate on meaning in addition to reviewing other translations, word meanings and context. I pray that I shall never be like the legalistic Pharisees who constantly challenged Jesus' teachings as His interpretation was not consistent with their narrow legalistic view. If you find fault with my comment, please pray for me that I may be enlightened by finding the true meaning of His message. I always welcome such prayers.
In addition, there is always a risk in reading more into Bible texts (or indeed any text) than is actually there. I dont believe God works in coincidences, but at the same time, if you think about it, almost every heresy and wrong turn taken has started with the phrase "it is written". What usually happens is that some charismatic person picks up on an interpretation of a piece of scripture and then blows it up out of all proportion, often ignoring or dismissing other pieces of scripture. They gather a following, which typically goes much further than the founder would ever go, and before you know it they end up denying Jesus' Humanity, or His divinity, or putting hands into pits of poisonous snakes.
My friend, I dont want to rubbish your experience, because obviously its spoken very deeply to you, and if its drawn you closer to God that is all that matters. I just urge caution is all.
It is funny because I have left prophecy alone for several years. I have found that it is more important to work on putting the new man on and shedding the old. It is more important to be the co-builder of my house with the Lord using gold, silver, and precious stone as stated in the third chapter of 1st Corinthians. And it is more important to be a fruit producer as opposed to worrying about prophecy. I trust in the Lord and have no fear.
At one time I worried and fussed over pre, mid, and post tribulation rapture. And something hit me to just keep my eyes on Jesus and try my best to put His character on. I stumbled across this meaning of 666 and started wondering. I heard a sermon this morning by Dr. Jerimiah and he was talking about this and kind of quenched my thirst for the time being. He said it is a mans number and it is imperfect. I can live with this simple explanation for now. Time to move on and work on the fundamentals.
You have been a valuable asset in my endeavor and I appreciate you being a sounding board for me. Iron sharpens iron and I thank you.
Quote-
and that much of its narrative concerns the Roman Empire.
Funny how the entire world today runs on a calendar named for a pope..
And nobody questions it. Well, almost nobody..
I reject it for the biblical calendar and when one observes it long enough, it will be clear that His Sabbath isn’t Saturn’sday or Sun’s day.
And if revelation 13 didn’t have the satanic trinity making people break the first four commandments (including the Sabbath), it wouldn’t make much difference..
Amazing how much influence Rome has today... prophectic..
