Cardinal Raymond Burke accused the General Secretariat of manipulation. There is no assurance that manipulation of the "secret synod" won't continue.

The fact that the manipulation resulted in the publication by the Vatican Press Office of a document which includes such statements as "Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners" (a statement which falsely implies that intrinsic evil possesses sanctifying elements) clearly justifies the appalled reactions we are seeing from faithful Catholics.

Living together and supporting each other is not an intrinsic evil.
Brothers do that. Monks do that.

Sodomy is an intrinsic evil.

Sexual relations between anybody other than husband and wife is evil.

Justifying - affirming - applauding - celebrating a sex-driven relationship between two men or two women is evil.

"Gay Marriage" is evil.

But living together and supporting each other is not an intrinsic evil.

The Church has nothing against men living like brothers --- as celibates --- assuming we are not talking about deliberate exposure to a near occasion of sin.

I'm trying to make important distinctions here.

I'm not saying that if, for instance, two women are mutually supportive, that justifies sexual perversion. I AM saying that if the two make a decision to turn from their sin and to live chastely, the mutual support would be a good element of their life together.
