” 50. Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?

51. The question of homosexuality leads to a serious reflection on how to elaborate realistic paths of affective growth and human and evangelical maturity integrating the sexual dimension: it appears therefore as an important educative challenge. The Church furthermore affirms that unions between people of the same sex cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman. Nor is it acceptable that pressure be brought to bear on pastors or that international bodies make financial aid dependent on the introduction of regulations inspired by gender ideology.

52. Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners. Furthermore, the Church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given priority.”

“Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation...”

It sounds like some of the big ‘seeker churches’ - who cares about sin, as long as you come and give us money? The Body of Christ is joined by repentance, not by “accepting and valuing” sin. Of course, the document says “orientation”...well, we ALL have a sin orientation, and we all need to repent.

“The Church furthermore affirms that unions between people of the same sex cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman.

How about CONDEMNING IT AS SIN?! “cannot be considered on the same footing” - what is next, a Joel Osteen statement that the Pope thinks homosexual marriage is not God’s Optimum Plan? Perhaps the Pope can make a statement: “Putting your penis in a man’s rump is not God’s highest possible calling for your life, but as long as you do it in love...”?!

“it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners”

Great! So active involvement is sin is “a precious support” - and gambling halls offer precious support to gamblers, and brothels offer precious support to adulterers and fornicators. The world and Satan ALWAYS offer precious support to sin - it is their job! It is not the job of any Christian church to see brothels, casinos and bars and say, “How sweet! Isn’t it nice that they get precious support for their lifestyle!”

Catholics like to call Peter the first Pope. Here is what Peter said:

“Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”

“As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”

” Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.”

“3 For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. 4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; 5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

“Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation...”

Unbelievable...valuing their sexual perversion.

How about we value adulator’s actions? Drug dealer’s selling drugs?

Thanks for reprinting that bit.
