Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

If Jesus appeared to you and told you to follow all Catholic rituals and practices and follow Him as Founder of His Church, what would you do?
Deuteronomy 12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God:

You really should make an effort to really learn the truth about these assertions you are making there, and apply corrections to the whole paragraph.
Well, let’s take them one by one. Do Catholics pray TO saints or Mary?
Deuteronomy 4:15 Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: 16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
Deuteronomy 16:22 and thou dost not raise up to thee any standing image which Jehovah thy God is hating.
Deuteronomy 27:15 Cursed is the man who maketh a graven and molten image, the abomination of Jehovah, work of the hands of an artificer, and hath put it in a secret place,

No, I’m not in Tennessee, but if I were, I’d be there with you. I’m praying for you and those who are standing in the gap to protect the innocent unborn.
nonsense...for the first 1,600 years of Christianity, ALL Christians were Catholic...there were no other "denominations". When the so called reformation took place, people who were drawn away from the church and formed their own so called "denominations"

No, rather than immediately changing what you said (like you did there -- that certainly didn't take long), why don't we take what you actually wrote in that paragraph I referenced one at time?
------------------------------------------------------------
"Please don't play that game with me."
That is a despicable and false accusation. I am playing games with no one.
------------------------------------------------------------
"Catholics are NOT just asking their so called saints to pray."
Yes they are. They present their specific intentions to the saints, with the understanding that the saints will be able to do effective intercessory prayer to God for them, and for those specific needs they present.
------------------------------------------------------------
"They pray TO them to have them perform specific acts."
Yes -- to act of "praying for them and for their specific needs".
------------------------------------------------------------
"Catholics also tell us those so called saints or Mary have more influence."
Do you mean to tell me you don't believe it is easier to communicate face-to-face with God in heaven (like guardian angels do) than it is on earth, with all of the multitude of distractions around us here, and where we are seeing "through the glass, darkly"?
------------------------------------------------------------
"They claim only those proclaimed by the CC are saints."
No, they do not. That is a complete falshood. (Look it up.)
------------------------------------------------------------
"Then they tell us it's those saints that present the prayers."
Those saints present the prayers along with our own prayers to God.
------------------------------------------------------------
"If only saints present prayers to God and you are not a saint God must not hear your prayers unless they go through saints."
Total nonsense. Catholics believe God hears ALL prayers, including those from us, and those from the saints. (By the way, the Church also teaches that there are many saints in heaven who were never canonized or declared saints by the Church.)
------------------------------------------------------------
"It's all double speak."
Not on my side.
------------------------------------------------------------
Once again, I urge you to seek the truth before posting things about the Catholic Church.
(I have to go now, so I'll bid you goodnight, and pray that you will be blessed with a full understanding and appreciation of the full truth about the Church founded by Jesus Christ.)
nope..He establised ONE religion and expects us to follow it....if you choose not to....I guess that is O.K. for you...I don't have that much nerve.
The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees; incense, lamps, and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water; asylums; holydays and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields; sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the East, images at a later date, perhaps the ecclesiastical chant, and the Kyrie Eleison, are all of pagan origin, and sanctified by their adoption into the Church.[Cardinal Newman - Development of Christian Doctrine, pg 373]
And you didn't think the Catholic Church incorporates paganism?
I come across EWTN a few times a week. They always seem to be saying the rosary. Why do they do that if it is not important?
If Jesus appeared to you and told you to follow all Catholic rituals and practices and follow Him as Founder of His Church, what would you do?
My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.
Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.
Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.
Amen.
Oh, baloney.

See, it is important to y’all, especially writing that to a Southern Baptist. Thanks but no thanks. Praying to Jesus is all I need plus reading the Bible.
