That this question can be asked with a straight face with current events unfolding before this generations very eyes is beyond comprehension.
II Thessalonians 2:7-12, “The mystery of iniquity already at work only the Holy Spirit constrains, until He leaves this earth at the translation of the living Bride. Then shall that Wicked One be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spoken Word, and shall destroy with the revelation of His parousia: even the Pope, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth (or the revealed Word, which is Christ), that they might be saved.”
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe the LIE: that they all might be damned who believed not the Truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
