The fact that someone was burned at the stake is no evidence regarding what the Church has taught as dogma. Dogmas are found in Scripture, the Fathers, and Magisterial documents.

He’s just a pope. They all die and are replaced. I wish people would remember that.

Wow...if a non-Catholic said that you'd be jumping their case in a second.

“The world has changed and the Church can not withdraw into supposed interpretations of dogma. We have to approach these social difficulties, both new and old, by extending a hand to give comfort, not by stigmatising and criticising people.”

Wait! Wait! Wait! The pope sounds like he's getting ready to change the catholic doctrine again.

Funny how the catholic church feels it can do this.

Shows how they are drifting away from the Bible even more.

Maybe the pope will convene a conference to see what support there is for changing the doctrine....again.

He told an Argentinian newspaper: “The world has changed and the Church can not withdraw into supposed interpretations of dogma. We have to approach these social difficulties, both new and old, by extending a hand to give comfort, not by stigmatising and criticising people.” Sounds to me like he is a Protestant at heart.

Nope...that's Catholicism 101...change with what the people want. It's what got you where you are today with Mary. Been doing it for 2000 years.

Well, in order to settle it once and for all there would have to be a very, very large convention of sedevacantists, or a truly scientific poll.

It should be noted that I didn’t say this particular superstition was the basis for ALL sedevacantism. I said that this superstition could encourage sedevacantism.

I will be interested in any concrete information about the conclave of 2013 that serves to demonstrate that it was invalid and/or illegally conducted.

I wouldn’t jump all over it, even if it were said by a non-Catholic. It happens to be true.

They are talking about the “prophecy” of Saint Malachi.

This Pope is shallow, vindictive, and egotistical. That’s hardly the End of the World.

“Infallible” doesn’t mean sinless, intelligent, virtuous, wise, etc.

All it means is that the Pope cannot propose heresy concerning faith or morals, formally, solemnly, for the belief of the entire Church.

Francis can do and say MUCH more that is imprudent, misleading, embarrassing, and destructive than he already has without calling into question either the dogma of papal infallibility or the validity of his election.

IF, after this current synod, Francis, by a formal declaration, calls into question the indissolubility of marriage, or the practice of the denial of Communion to those obstinately persisting in manifest grave sin, THEN the validity of his election will have to be questioned.

All the current chaos proves is that many Cardinals are corrupt and unintelligent. That’s not news. It doesn’t touch on the teaching of the Church. That is to be found in Scripture, in the Fathers, and in formal, Magisterial documents.

As of today, who knows? It keeps changing.

What's wrong with just relying on the Word?

“It gives me pleasure to have debates with conservative bishops”

Can you imagine Pope Benedict saying something that stupid?
Would be nice is Francis started acting like the leader of the world’s biggest Christian denomination and not just another liberal community organizer.

Anyone miss JP2 or B16 yet? How long can this man make a mockery of the Catholic Church?

“Wow...if a non-Catholic said that you’d be jumping their case in a second.”

You’re completely wrong. What I said was true. He’s a pope. They all die. They all get replaced. Anybody here who posts the truth - as I just did - just posts the truth. I would “be jumping [all over] their case in a second” if they made a stupid error or lied - an all too common occurrence here on the part of anti-Catholics.

I’ve been saying for years that the problem with Vatican 2 was the protestantism poison that was part of it all. Of course I’ve been called a liar on here by those that know nothing about Vatican 2. So yes protestants had their say at Vat 2, courtesy of the liberal Pope that called for the council, when there was no reason at all to call for one, other than to liberalise the Church.

It's not mind reading, but asking the same question over and over again is making the thread "about" another Freeper which is another form of "making it personal."

It is ok to ask a question once or twice but more than that is badgering. No answer IS the answer.

If the Church felt strongly enough about it to burn someone at the stake over it, I would have to say that is pretty dogmatic, IMHO.
