No, because the network was founded by a nun (Mother Angelica) on her own. It is still owned and run by the sisters and supported by donations. The Vatican does not monetarily support it or is involved in the content or operations. Mother Angelica once said that if she ever was in the position that she had to turn it over to the US bishops, she’d blow the whole damn thing up.
