In one of the rabid threads on the alleged ‘consecrated host’ a FReeper posted the links between the organizers of the hoax black mass and Oklahoma City atheists. I say ‘alleged’ on the consecrated host thing because the Catholic church in the area only got custody of it due to civil litigation. No theft was ever proved nor were criminal charges laid against the hoaxers for stealing anything. They merely said they had something which they could have bought off the ‘net.

The Catholics are being played. This was never about a black mass, this was always about trolling the Catholics into reacting to to trolls.

First, this isn't a Catholics vs. Satanic freaks thing - this is ALL Christians (and, quite frankly, the USA) vs. Satanic freaks thing.

Second, your definition of "trolling" is different than mine. Trolling usually just involves getting a rise out of someone just for a laugh. These guys are planning an actual assault on Christianity itself, which, as I mentioned, is also an assault on the USA, which has always had a strong Christian foundation.

Let me put it this way: if a group were planning a rally in which they burned American flags, waved Soviet and Jihad flags, had speeches talking about the destruction of the USA and how the USA is evil, and recruited others for their anti-American army, regular Americans would not be overreacting if they viewed this as a direct attack on their country and way of life. Ths Satanic mass thing is no different from a Christian perspective. This is not "trolling".

Well now, if that’s the case, the result has been a whole lot more praying and worshiping of God in the Catholic population of Oklahoma City per the Archbishop’s wishes. Since the perps of this blasphemy are being prayed for by Christians all over the place, not just in the OKC diocese, I’d say they got the opposite of what they intended. Fine by me. An hour in Adoration, an increase in the number of Benediction services, etc. all brings a lot more grace into the community and heightens the awareness in parishes of the need to honor God more.
