What happened to the St. Patricks Parade Post? [Ecumenical; Msgr. Pope's Follow-Up]

Many of you have expressed concern about a blog post I wrote on the St. Patricks Day Parade which was removed. I am grateful for your concern about this and all the issues we discuss here. I removed the post upon further reflection due to the strong nature of the language I had used in parts of it. I apologize if the language I used caused offense.
I remain concerned about the central point of the article, namely, how we as Catholics can effectively engage a culture that increasingly requires us to affirm what we cannot reasonably affirm. There are many prudential decisions involved in the answer to this question, and my intent is not to directly criticize any bishop or diocese. But this is an issue we must all collectively wrestle with as our culture and our faith reach deeper differences.
I am grateful to the Archdiocese of Washington that has generously sponsored our conversation on this site for five years. I am also grateful to all of you who read and comment. I ask mutual charity and understanding for all parties involved. The beautiful motto of James Cardinal Hickey, who ordained me, rings just now in my heart: Veritatem in Caritate (the truth in charity).

Sounds like he got kicked off the website.

To me, it seems pretty damn simple for the Catholic Dioces in this case.
Disavow the Parade.
To continue to support it, aid in its organization, or attend it, is to affirm not only political picketing by those who despise Christ, but also it completely dishonors the saint being venerated.
The solution is clear, if a bishop has the balls. DISAVOW THE PARADE

I don't think Msgr. Pope removed his post voluntarily.
Here is a comment he's made earlier:
Bless you all for your prayers and encouragement. I hope you will understand if I cannot continue to post your comments on the parade article here. I will read them but cannot post them, I will send you an e-mail gratitude. I ask your charity and understanding for the Archdiocese of Washington which has always generously sponsored this blog and been supportive of our conversations.
I also hope you will understand if I cannot explain why it was removed.
I am a loyal son of the Church and I love my Archdiocese.
And now, within hours, he's explaining why it was removed. Quite a reversal.

Wow - that’s a tough post. No wonder he was coerced to remove it - but true in so many ways. Thanks to FR for preserving the original !

Msgr Pope,
Tell “the culture”:

This archdiocese is run by a corrupt man and his friends. Their deceits and hypocrisy are loathsome.

Here's another article that also discusses that Msgr. Pope column and related issues:
"Are Catholic conservatives turning on Cardinal Timothy Dolan?" (If anyone skilled in setting up new threads here wants to, they might want to set that Washington Post article up as a separate thread for additional comments.)

I know Msgr. Charles Pope and I know him to be a scholarly and compassionate priest, a dynamic homilist, and a faithful servant of God. I read his blog post before it was pulled and I am in total agreement with the thrust of his post - I think the Catholic Church should dissociate itself from any parade, festival, or other enterprise that provides a forum for the homosexual agenda, the pro-death activists, or any other faction advancing beliefs or conduct antithetical to the Church's central teachings.
I am appalled that Cardinal Dolan has ratified this outrage - had high hopes for him after his Benediction at the DNC in 2012. At this juncture, I feel betrayed by him and others of the R.C. Episcopacy.
One minor point of disagreement with Msgr. Pope - I will continue to wear green on St. Patrick's Day - my ancestors suffered and bled through seven centuries of tyranny and religious persecution for the right to wear it, and I will continue to do so.

And now, within hours, he's explaining why it was removed. Quite a reversal. Rather than mocking him, you should pray for him.
He is in the process of being crucified by the Lavender Mafia.
He needs our prayers and our support for what he is going through...and, if my suspicions are correct, what he is going to be going through.

Ping to #17. Do you remember Father Ming’s friend Father Clark?
Please say some prayers for a former associate pastor of St Mary of the Mills. He’s going to need them.
