The Cause For Archbishop Sheen Suspended Because Cdl. Dolan Refuses To Transfer Body
Creative Minority Reporta ^ | September 3, 2014 | PATRICK ARCHBOLD

Posted on 09/04/2014 3:39:44 PM PDT by NYer

Boy, the Cardinal Dolan hits just keep on coming.

From the Cause of Archbishop Sheen

It is with immense sadness that the Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, Bishop of Peoria and President of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation, announced today that the Cause for Sheen’s beatification and canonization has for the foreseeable future been suspended. The process to verify a possible miracle attributed to Sheen had been going extremely well, and only awaited a vote of the Cardinals and the approval of the Holy Father. There was every indication that a possible date for beatification in Peoria would have been scheduled for as early as the coming year. The Holy See expected that the remains of Venerable Sheen would be moved to Peoria where official inspection would be made and first class relics be taken. Subsequently, the Archdiocese of New York denied Bishop Jenky’s request to move the body to Peoria. After further discussion with Rome, it was decided that the Sheen Cause would now have to be relegated to the Congregation’s historic archive.

Countless supporters especially from the local church in Central Illinois have given their time, treasure and talent for this good work with the clear understanding that the body of Venerable Sheen would return to the Diocese. Bishop Jenky was personally assured on several occasions by the Archdiocese of New York that the transfer of the body would take place at the appropriate time. New York’s change of mind took place as the work on behalf of the Cause had reached a significant stage.

Bishop Jenky is what is technically called the “actor” of the Sheen Cause. The Diocese of Peoria and the Sheen Foundation have prayed and labored for this good work for the last twelve years. The Bishop is heartbroken not only for his flock in Peoria but also for the many supporters of the Sheen Cause from throughout the world who have so generously supported Peoria’s efforts. It should be noted, however, that saints are always made by God not by man. Efforts for many causes have sometimes taken decades or even centuries. Bishop Jenky urges that those who support the Sheen Cause continue their prayers that God’s will be made manifest.
This release is shocking in its directness that Archdiocese of New York (Read Cardinal Dolan) repeatedly promised to transfer the remains of Archbishop Sheen and has now reneged, causing a fatal blow to the cause.

I cannot even imagine what legitimate reason could be given for making and breaking such a promise. Terrible.

OY!

Look it up. Find out what you are talking about.

If humans decided who were saints, they’d run it like a political machine.

The Holy See answers an inquiry. they investigate. They then exhume the body to see if it has been incorrupt, and they ask for evidence of miracles, not hearsay, or opinions, of which there are plenty, but evidence. Docotors’ verifications of untreatable illnesses being cured without natural reason, for instance.

Then they run a devil’s advocate - it’s where the term comes from.

All to determine whether or not God made this person a saint, taken immediately into Heaven.

That’s it.

...And as a man was being buried, behold, a marauding band was seen and the man was thrown into the grave of Elisha, and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet...

Also, the bodies of many saints have been found to be incorrupt, although such a miracle is not regarded as definitive proof of sainthood.

If we proved that the saint was a repeat sinner, would that stop them from being DEEMED a Saint?

Oh. You need to read some saints bios.

St Augustine was one of the worst people, his father was bad and his mother prayed for him non stop. She is a saint.( Monica)

There are no saints who were not sinners and no one as holy a life as they may lead is a saint until after they’re gone

The only ones without sin are the Blessed Mother and Jesus himself

Just look it up and leave me alone about it

It’s all in writing

How's this.....

Massachusetts Pro-Life Leader Criticizes Hibernians. This was the result of a very quick search on Hiberians support pro-choice politicians.

And then there is this:

ST. PAT'S DAY PARADE FUROR Pro-choicer sparks outrage. From this article: " Finn, pastor of St. Joseph-St. Thomas Church in Pleasant Plains, is a former parade grand marshal and a member of the Richmond County Ancient Order of Hibernians, which chose O'Donovan. "I don't know what they were thinking to choose a man who is pro-choice, which is contrary to the teachings of the church and in opposition to the position held by the [order],"....

Those are both from 2001.

And you had to jump in...why?

the Ancient Hibernians are all over a basic google search against abortion.

Here’s a random insert from 2009:

Here is a list of five things that we as Members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians can do:

1. Pray - We all know what the power of Prayer can do. We need to pray the Rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Patron of the United States, and ask her to intercede on our behalf to change the hearts of the American people against abortion.

2. Contact our Government officials by letters and e-mails. Let them know how you feel about abortion being against the will of God and Human Rights of the unborn babies that are being aborted.

3. Always vote for Pro-Life Candidates. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, “You cannot be a Catholic and support Abortion”. Remember vote as a Catholic.

4. Do not support organizations that support legalized abortion.

5. Support with your prayer, time and money to organizations that help women who are choosing life over abortion.

Bill Harris
Chairman, Catholic Action Chairman 2009

But perhaps, to make a point, now that you have formed a gang, you could just tell us how and why the AOH has alone fended off the gay militia from this parade up to now.

And you had to jump in...why?

Because this is an open forum and I have as much right as anyone to comment!

"....now that you have formed a gang"

I'm NOTpart of any "gang". Just someone who has an opinion and is voicing it! As for the articles being from 2001....those were the 1st two that popped up. You asked for "Just a link. Or one cut and paste, cited?" and I provided one of each!

Whoever made this decision, with all due respect, needs an attitude adjustment posthaste. I assume the family at this point understands the drill in these cases, and everybody at the archdiocese who cares certainly does. Peoria’s been going at this case for the last ten years or so. You can’t let them get this close to beatification and then make them bin it because you don’t want to ship the body out of New York. If that’s really the rationale, if you wanted that badly enough, maybe you guys should have opened the file instead of Peoria in the first place. Handle it.

WHOO HOO! Thank you for the ping!

Hey, Norm! I was beginning to think you had gone on the last three vacay’s with the Obamas’! Their tour guide for the golf courses maybe, or possibly
baby sitter to Michelle and the kiddies.

Gee, you’re back just in time for the fall cycle of Romneybots, who are increasingly touring through FR. Glad to know you are okay and back in form, and forum! Rita

Thanks, Elk, for remembering my inquiry, and for the ping.

Stanne, I read this morning that Bishop Sheen requested buriel in NYC, which remains supported by his family. Reportedly, the Archdiocese of NY would be responding shortly, but I haven’t heard if this has occurred yet.

I can’t imagine why the permission was revoked after agreements were said to be arranged, but now have changed without public explanation. It was speculated that that the family, or possibly the Archdiocese of NY, did not want to lose Bishop Sheen permanently to the official Peoria shrine in his name, considering his last wishes.

Also, Rome is quoted as saying this affair is a “temporary suspension”.

Not having read it, I would say that it was temporary and put out as a news item for effect.

Archbishop Dolan has some ideas that... well leave one to pray

but not this, I wouldn’t think.

I am from there, and my old aunts would talk about not only how the Irish women built St. Pats, meaning it was their impression that they raised the revenue and the motivation to get it done, but also that The Holy Archbishop Sheen’s voice on TV was very inspiring.

I went through St Pats fairly recently on a trip home and spent some time after Mass on a weekday. Honestly, it took an hour.

I went around and there, amidst the great shrines of St Therese, and such icons, was a gold plaque on the inside rail - Fulton J. Sheen.

Whoah. He was buried there, right under us in the crypt. What and honor for him, his family, but also the Cathedral and her denizens.

I am quite sure archbishop Dolan won’t let it go without certainty that it will return.

Perhaps that’s what it is about, and if so, it will all work out.

I can only hope to visit St. Patrick’s, so I’m thrilled you were there, and to visit dear Archbishop Sheen.

Frankly, I can sympathize with New York’s loss of Blessed Bishop Sheen to Peoria, through sainthood, but dear Sheen would have been beholden to the requirements of sainthood, don’t you believe, and seems Peoria expended the effort toward sainthood whereas, NY did not.

Rita

Either JPII or Benedict. You can look up Dolan on Wikipedia. It will have the info.

Everybody talks about the wonderful Popes we’ve had in the last fifty years. They’ve even canonized two of them. But every horrible, heretical, corrupt bishop in our lifetime was appointed by one of these “saintly” Popes. JPII was notorious for picking the top folder off the stack (there are always three folders for the Pope to examine) and signing his name without even glancing at the contents.

Archbishop Weakland wrote how on every visit to Rome, he would be confronted with a pile of complaint letters, and scolded for his derelictions. But nothing was done until he embezzled $450,000 from the archdiocese to pay off his boyfriend.

Ultimately, the Popes are to blame for the wreckage caused by the socialist, LGBT bishops of the last fifty years.

Sadly, I agree. Not even sure that JPII should have been canonized.

Well, the Church claims infallibility for canonizations, so that settles that issue.

And it’s not as though anybody (certainly not me!) doubts that he’s in heaven.

But it’s undeniable that he was negligent in some respects, and that he had blind spots. He was a complete dupe of the evil Maciel. I know people who spotted Maciel for an evil fraud the moment they met him.

JPII saw many good priests smeared by the Communists, and he rigidly refused to believe negative information about priests.
