Disturbing when even ultra lib FDR sounds like a conservative compared to the scum running the country today

In his 6 volume “History of World War II” Winston Churchill describes the Sunday service held on the “HMS Prince of Wales”.

Churchill said that Roosevelt asked him to select the hymns for the service. I only remember one, it was “Onward Christian Soldiers”.

I later saw a film of that service and sure enough they were all singing that song. Churchill mentioned that less than a year later, most of those sailors were dead.

Wow! What a beautiful testament from Fr. Longenecker. But he releases women from as much blame as they need to shoulder for the excesses of the sexual revolution. Itt takes 2 to tango.

Although it is only film, these lines from From We Were Soldiers remind me of those different times:

Hal: [praying] Our Father in Heaven, before we go into battle every soldier among us will approach You, each in his own way. Our enemies too, according to their own understanding, will ask for protection and for victory. And so we bow before Your infinite wisdom. We offer our prayers as best we can. I pray that You watch over the young men like Jack Geoghegan that I lead into battle; You use me as Your instrument in this awful hell of war, to watch over them. Especially if they are men like this one beside me deserving of a future in Your blessing and good will. Amen.

Jack: Amen.

Hal: Oh, yes, and one more thing, dear Lord — about our enemies? Ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow those little bastards straight to hell. Amen again.

I also know that much of the rot in our country today was brought about by the very men who returned from the second world war and pursued a path of greed, self indulgence and worldly power.

Not at all. It was the natural reaction and desire that their children would not have to go through what they did. Completely normal, but this is what the leftist preyed upon. A generation assured that they would not have to stand up and face, possibly, brutal death in the defense of this nation were easy targets for the Marxists.

I don't blame the WWII guys in the slightest. It was an almost universal sentiment, then. Just as WWI was the "War to end all wars". We know that didn't work out.

So should they.
