I can see an additional celebration of a feast day like this one on the nearest Sunday to remind the parish of it. And get those who may not have attended Mass on the actual feast day to hear a homily related to it and their lives.
I do NOT think it correct to ignore the actual feast day on its actual calendar day and to reserve the celebrating of it only to the nearest Sunday. Unless there are no Masses held on the feast that occur during the week.

That is probably the only thing I miss about living in a metropolitan area. I could always find a Mass to fit whatever wacky work schedule I was on. Now I have a set schedule but not many options for Mass.
