it’s not that kind of job where you type and file and answer the phone, the diocesan office has those. The secretary of the bishop makes sure the liturgy is correct where the bishop is about to celebrate mass, meaning the sanctuary is set up properly, the altar servers knows what they are doing, the deacons and lectors and Extraordinary ministers know what they have to do, the readings are in the right spot, etc..he also concelebrates the mass..knows when to remove his mitre.... every day they are in a different church, school, hospital, monastery, function, etc. The secretary is part of the advance team. That’s what the job entails, not what you are thinking.
It’s an important job to know when to remove a man’s hat, especially since the bishop is usually a man of no experience, training or education in the rubrics of the Catholic liturgy. How did the Apostles manage their mitres?
