So where does legalized theft from taxpayers stand in the biblical view?

Amnesty for illegal immigrants is a political question none of the bishops’ business. As such, no Catholic is bound to support their opinion on the matter.

As reported in National Catholic Register, Bishop David Zubik of Pittsburgh said that providing for the needs of the young illegal immigrants is one facet of a truly pro-life philosophy....Similarly, Fr. James Melnick, writing at Catholic Stand, states that the recent words of Bishop Anthony Taylor of the Diocese of Little Rock indicate that pro-life issues and immigration are the top concerns of many dioceses in the South. Do these guys want to undermine the true “Prolife” coalition? They are doing a good job of it. Next will be that increasing Welfare and Food Stamp payments is “Prolife.”

All religious leaders need to butt out of immigration, it is not your business.

This is coming from a Catholic who is a regular, eliminate the tax exemptions for the Church and earmark the money to take of illegals. The Catholic Church is I believe the largest landowner in the US and all the land is tax free. If the Bishops want to take care of illegals make them pay.

- Sending them back home is not nearly the same thing as killing them.
- Their physical needs ARE being met during the time that they are here (though from reports their medical needs have been fumbled badly)
- The ultimate compassionate Christian thing would be to send them back and reunite them with their parents.

We'll be a de facto "Catholic country" in 20 years at this rate. Of course, it'll be "liberation theology" left-wing Catholicism.

They’ve been “fumbling” my health care since I got out of the Army in 1983 and I still can’t dental care. Excuse me if I don’t weep for them.
