Jessa Duggar is currently courting Ben Seewald, a very strong Christian with very strong views on things. His views on the Catholic faith, however, recently caused a social media scandal and Seewald deleted the comments he had posted to his Facebook page.
"Where Catholics depart from Scripture, I will in no way support, but will call them out because I love them and desire that they be turned from their deadly errors," Seewald wrote. He also noted that he disagreed with the claim that Jesus' mother Mary was a "sinless being. I have nothing against individuals who are Catholic," he continued. "I know a lot of Catholics who are great people. What I DO have a problem with is the teaching that man can merit God's favor through his own works or the works of other fallen men."
Seewald was still not through expressing his disappointment with the Catholic tradition.
"I DO have a problem with the teaching that man can come to God through Mary or any other person besides Jesus … I DO have a problem with the deification of Mary as a sinless being. Mary herself admitted her need for a Savior. If she had no sin, she would need no Savior," he concluded.

Jesus’ ancestors were all sinners.
Why wouldn’t He? It’s sin, not cooties. Mary’s sinful nature, as being fully human, is not an insurmountable condition for God the Father.
Why would God put his only Son in a sinful world?
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Only the Saviour was, and is, perfect.
Though blessed among women, I would not pray to her. She did not die for my sin, and Scripture gives no instruction to worship the earthly being that was chosen to bring forth the Son of God.
If there is such Scripture, I would truly like to know about it.
Anybody in America who knows how to read should know that Catholics do not deify Mary. Luke 1:28 a verse Catholics rightly use to support her sinlessness. He might disagree with that interpretation but that verse exists.

One of the proofs of the power of God is that He can bring forth perfection from imperfection.

I don’t see anything in that verse to say that Mary was sinless. She was favored, she was blessed among women, but that does not say sinless.
Catholics do not pray to Mary. The Hail Mary prayer comes from the Gospel of Luke. We merely ask her to pray for us, something we ask of all the saints. Do Christians ask other Christians to pray for them? Certainly.
Furthermore, the prayers of the rosary are a contemplation on the life of Christ and His sufferings for us.
“Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death”

"Into their [those already in Heaven] company we beseech Thee admit us, not considering our merits, but freely pardoning our offenses. Through Christ our Lord."
NOT considering our merits. How much more explicit can the Church be?!
She was born in sin just like everyone else. Why else would she need a Savior?

I know a number of catholics who pray to Mary. So that’s not part of catholic doctrine?
Not trying to offend anyone, but it seems a little weird to ask a dead person to pray for us, be it Mary or “saints”.
We regularly request prayer, but not from someone who has passed on.
If you believe that, though, it follows, "How could the sinless mother of Jesus come from a sinful woman (Mary's mother)?" And so on, and so on.
That does not say she was sinless.
