Because they’re falling into modern secularism like Europe and (sadly) the U.S..
I didn't say that the Bible was wrong. YOU misread both my words and the Lincoln QUOTE.
I did NOT say that we couldn't change. What I did say is that, Abraham Lincoln SAID that HUMAN behavior can be modified, and that would be our the change, but, he added, human NATURE cannot be changed.
If you feel that YOU can gainsay LINCOLN, be my guest. I believe him, WITHOUT altering his words, like YOU altered his and mine.
LEARN to read the printed word, NOT what YOU care to alter and THEN call the printed word. Thank you.
===========================================
Sexual deviance isn't new, or haven't you ever read about Sodom and Gamorrah?
Modern secularism isn't, per se sexual deviance. Again, if you read the Bible, sexual deviance isn't "modern." It's as old as sin.
“Modern secularism isn’t, per se sexual deviance.”
No but it’s a strong enabler of it.
This whole article is the pot calling the kettle black.
People will ALWAYS and ALWAYS find a reason an excuse for their particular sin. Remember Adam? He blamed it on Eve and Eve blamed the devil. "The devil made me do it." Shades of Flip Wilson.
People are only "enabled" (modern psychobabble) when they allow themselves to be.
Then they need to put their faith in Christ and repent of their sins like all of us need to.
How many times does that have to be done? People often use that as a crutch, knowing that all they have to do is say "Sorry, Lord. I repent." And BIM SALA BIM, all sin gone.
What about reparations, penance, punishment, TRUE REMORSE...a/the way to make sure that THAT particular doesn't repeat?
After a while the "Sorry Lord, I repent" theme must get really old, especially if it's ALWAYS the same sin. WHERE is the resolution? Doesn't resolution show some EFFORT to turn away from sin?
NOBODY is that weak unless s/he wants to be. Repetition of same sins shows an arrogance...and PRIDE is the FIRST of the seven deadly sins.
“From Abraham Lincoln: Human action can be modified to some extent, but human nature can not be changed.”
“That is, to say, we haven’t changed one iota.
Our human nature remains UNCHANGED.”
Yes, I believe God’s words over honest Abe’s and any man’s.
God does change human nature; all redeemed men and women are being changed from the inside (heart/mind/spirit)out; they are being conformed to the image of Christ, and one of these days they will be perfect as He is perfect and glorified.
Human behavior is NOT genetic and can be changed.
YOU are misinformed as to NATURE versus behavior. One can ALWAYS CHANGE his/her behavior. But one cannot change his/her genetic make-up, that is, our nature.
GOOGLE: Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristics, including ways of thinking, feeling and acting, which humans tend to have naturally, independently of the influence of culture.
We may THINK whatever we like but we ACT according to our behavioral morality. I DO understand what you are saying but there IS a huge difference between nature/nurture. We both believe in behaving according to God's Plan. We can ALL do so. Our behavior CAN model God's plan sometimes, even if we are genetically quick tempered, negative or cynical by nature.
We can also behave according to God's Plan even if we had a horrible upbringing, being beaten, abused or whatever.
We have no choice as to our nature.
We have a choice as to our behavior.
Nature: our genes
Nurture: our way of reacting to the world--sin versus no sin.
God bless you and yours.
My friend, God changes our spirit, heart, mind and one of these days our bodies. We are complete in Christ, ALL of us—body, soul and spirit.
He writes His law on our new hearts and causes us to walk in His statutes. Our BEHAVIOR begins to change the moment we have been born again, made a new creation, placed into Christ and He into us.
Ephesians 5:8-10: for you were formerly darkness, but now you are [by God’s grace through faith] light in the Lord; walk [behavior] as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), proving what is pleasing to the Lord.
Yes, body, soul and spirit, friend, NOT nature.
Which of the Ten Commandments covers incest?
Your definition of human nature comes from man, not God.
Ephesians 2:1-10—
V. 1 & 2 describes those who are dead in their trespasses and sins—that would be the whole world, that is every person’s condition when we come into this world.
Note it says you WERE dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you FORMERLY WALKED (lived, continuously behaved) according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air (Satan)...sons of disobedience.
V. 3-10 describes the life of the believer:
Among them [described in v. 1 & 2] we too all FORMERLY LIVED in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were BY NATURE children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, becausde of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand THAT WE SHOULD WALK in them.
Although sin still resides in the flesh and the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17), WE NOW HAVE A CHOICE in how we live, our behavior.
Sin is no longer master over us; it does not rule over us. Before, when we were sons of disobedience, without Christ, we obeyed our “father,” the devil, the prince of this world.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires, Galatians 5:24. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit, Galatians 5:25.
We have become partakers of His divine nature and are becoming more and more like Christ, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 2 Peter 1:4
None. I meant to add ‘too’ to the question.
These people should move to North Korea and see how a godless society really operates.
