Why would any Christian assume that a man striving to emulate Christ in the flesh would have nothing to offer about the nature of love? It's not about the nature of love. It's about making a marriage work.
Experience is the issue.
It's easy to have all the answers until you've been there.

I don’t ever go to the priest to fix my spouse, I go to the priest to fix myself. I have a good marriage. But all relationships require work. I think a priest can be a good objective listener. If I am living a good interior life, then my spouse benefits from that.

It's easy to have all the answers until you've been there. Yeah because priests don't have a past. They just woke up one day fully grown with a Roman collar. They never saw their parents or anyone else's marriage. Never had any relatives that were married or have had any training in counseling what so ever.
