It’s incrementalism. One piece at a time, liberals alter the landscape. One less devil here, one less “anti gay slur” rewritten in a more ‘acceptable/less offensive way, there, repeated over and over, and we all wake up one day to entire faiths embracing gay marriage, Popes having Muslims over to consecrate the Vatican for Allah and the rest.

I fully expect, in my remaining life, to see several ‘churches’ come out and tell us that “Jesus” was simply a metaphor” and Heaven is what we make it right here on earth.

Not Jewish by birth or conversion, though Torah nonetheless informs the core of my belief.

In every appearance of “the devil” within scripture, I can so readily see God himself as the antagonist. In other words, I see the devil as that level of abstraction within early human thought that transferred the commission of evil to another agent.

For me, there’s a great deal of dedication to the unified, monotheistic God, exclusive of anything else outside His creation, which to me, beyond the human idea, the so-called devil clearly is.

There are quite a few rabbis who would disagree, but they haven’t convinced me either.

Oh, well.... “L’Chaim!”
