Yet at the same time, I see more and more people who are members of faith and fellowship assemblies masquerading as churches, saying that America is a "Protestant country," a "Protestant edifice," etc. One even stated that Catholics should be eternally grateful to ALL Protestants because the denizens of "Protestant America" so magnanimously "allowed" Catholics to live here! I guess that poster is looking for a reparation check or something.
Ironically, these claims that America was, and should be again, a Protestant theocracy that graciously allows Catholics to reside within it seem to be in violation of the rules in the exact same manner that monarchy-advocacy would be.
This ties into a question I've had for awhile now. Is there some tie-in between this particular protestant mindset and this Americana fixation held by Mormons, most specifically Glenn Beck? Is that something inherent in those confessions?
