Can an infant be baptized, be raised by believing parents & later turn from the faith?

Baptism is an act of obedience. Our open communication of our acceptance.

Did Jesus ever say whoever believes and has accepted but was not baptized would not be saved?

Sounds like Christ’s parable of the two servants. The master instructed two servants to go do a certain job.

The first servant said yes, and then walked off and never did it. The other said no, but later thought better of it and went and did what his master desired. Then Christ asked, “Which servant did his master’s will?”

Examples are legend of alcoholics’ children being teetotalers; and vice-versa on issues ad infinitum. Nobody can predict how any one person will turn out.

Peter said baptism saves us.

And Peter also said that water doesn't save us...

By this then, if any RC priest were to follow Jesus’ words, they would have to baptize any baby/infant in the throes of death, yet still alive, just to list one scenario out of many.

Problem is, no proof that all of them were baptized.

Where can the RCC show they were all baptized?

Peter also denied Christ.

I’ll go with what Jesus said.

Since the thread opening shows that a baby/infant can be baptized, yet continue with God or fall away, and the same can be said of any baby that was wrongly denied infant baptism they could one day become Roman C., there s no reason to deny baptism to any baby/infant - only God knows the future.

No justification if any of those babies wasn’t baptized.

You ask for mercy for all in your post, and this is good, but who should call out for mercy from God was the nuns/priest that didn’t care if they had an individual grave r baptism and the RCC that had the $ to procure an individual grave for each and didn’t

I was really trying to stay out of this, but well some of the comments have been beyond the pale. I am going to say this just once and I don't really care what your response is, my comment is for the lurkers and the less informed.

A priest is not required for baptism, you don't even require a Catholic, or even a Christian. The only thing required is water (for a water baptism, not Baptism of Blood or Baptism of desire.) And the proper formula.

The proper formula is to say: I baptize you in the name of the Father, The Son, and the Holy spirit, as you are pouring water over the person. As long as the person performing the rite is doing with the intent of the Church, that is all that is required.

You have yourself a real good rest of the day and I will pray for you.

OK, here it goes... the “accepting Jesus” stuff is CRAP. God is infinite, so His wisdom, mercy and love are also infinite. God made a covenant with Abraham. God does not renege. Jews are God’s people. They don’t need to “accept Jesus”. God chooses imperfect, flawed, failed people (David, Peter, Paul. There are people of every religious strip in heaven and many of them had never heard of Jesus much less “accepted” Him. Who the hell are we to put limits on God. By the way, in case you fire back about what the Bible says, please remember it said Balaam tied his ass to a tree and walked away.

“So you continue to spread that unproven canard here? Why?”

Satan, like rust, never sleeps.

“Baptizing an infant serves no purpose.”

So, then, I take it you reject the mystical element to Baptism.

I don't know if Peter had any choice in the matter. He was rebuked by Jesus for defending him when he cut off a soldiers ear. I think God used him to fulfill prophecy.

Lot's of luck with that one :)

It was left to the honesty of the person. The tradition was always around 12, but it would vary for those with conditions that would impact their lives, for example, someone life had left mentally incapable.

“How old was Jesus when he got baptized?”

Jesus is God; He was born without the taint of original sin. He did not need the Grace of the sacrament of Baptism.

“You didn’t answer my question.”

I showed that your question was irrelevant. Please argue more intelligently, or not at all.
