When we have volunteers for our choir who aren’t quite up to it, we just adjust the microphone pickup at the central sound board. A singer who’s all on the same note actually isn’t a problem, if the volume is set right.

Sounds like PLAN.

He did invent the pun so He has to hear them.

God also created Lucifer and God created Hell. God hears the mournful cries of the damned as He also hears giggles in the pews.

I’m pretty sure St Augustine wouldn’t even understand the so-called idea of “liturgical preferences”.

You’re being rigid. Cut it out.

Based on what? In 354 AD, they were not celebrating the Mass of Pius V.

What does that have to do with his not understanding liturgical preferences?

My husband whispered, “Played by Anthony Quinn in the movie,” and the whole row broke up.

If the whole "row" broke up, it wasn't really a whisper, was it?

Does your church not have pews?

No, it didn’t have pews, because it wasn’t a canonical church: it was a multipurpose parochial facility. And it was a “stage whisper.”

But don’t worry, it wasn’t nearly as much of a disruption as the time our #4 child had a Diaper Disaster during Mass at that parish, in the front row, dripping on my feet and those of the person next to me.

Your child couldn’t help it; your husband, on the other hand, has no excuse.

Anybody who jokes during Mass doesn’t respect the Holy Eucharist.

Not nearly as hard as being married to a jokester who can’t keep it outside the Mass.

80. It is, therefore, desirable, Venerable Brethren, that all the faithful should be aware that to participate in the eucharistic sacrifice is their chief duty and supreme dignity, and that not in an inert and negligent fashion, giving way to distractions and day-dreaming, but with such earnestness and concentration that they may be united as closely as possible with the High Priest, according to the Apostle, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”[80] And together with Him and through Him let them make their oblation, and in union with Him let them offer up themselves.
