I think they’re allowed to reject the funds, but I’m not sure. I’m also not sure if it would make a difference, since the entire premise of such a system is that church and state are not separate. We have a unique system in America in comparison to Europe. We rejected intentionally what they have.

The Diocese of Copenhagen's website says that there are only 48 Catholic Churches in Denmark. I would think that they could easily fund themselves or perhaps get some assistance from the Vatican. However, the bigger problem is that this law appears to make same-sex marriage mandatory.

I just reread the article though and this story is from two years ago when the Church of Denmark changed its position.
