I believe Dennis Prager once used this word within the contexts of Judaism during an interview with science writer Gerald Schroeder. IIRC, he defined it as Orthodox in outlook, but somewhat revised in overall observance.

For example, some "Modern Orthodox" Jews observe all the laws of Shabbat but reject the story of the origin of Shabbat.
