Ping!
So, “do this in remembrance of Me” actually means, “Hire a guy in a bathrobe to say some hocus pocus words and then it will become my actual body and blood.” Can you give us the passage that makes this important connection?
One other thing, too. In figures of speech, one can say that something is like something else (simile, I believe) or metaphor - that something *is* something else.
Most Protestants cannot handle this. They simply ignore it. They insist the text in John 6 is merely symbolic, in spite of no proof to that effect, and then just move on. In fact, most of the time, they would rather change the subject, and talk about some other Catholic teaching they find less difficult to argue. Yet it's important to keep them on topic, because this is a vital teaching of the Christian faith, that should effect every single aspect of their Christian worship.
That author is lying to you...We don't shy away from it at all...Why would we??? We have the bible to straighten out your religion...
Ignatius of Antioch was a bishop in the early Church. He was ordained by the Apostle John and made a bishop by the Apostle Peter.
And now we are resorting to posting dishonesty??? There is no evidence that Ignatius ever spoke to John the Apostle...And Peter certainly did not make him a bishop...
I believe it is the Real Presence. The Bible tells me so as do the early fathers. However, if you don’t think so, don’t receive it.
