Looking for a church in San Jose
Posted on 05/31/2014 8:43:59 PM PDT by cblue55
My son just graduated from college and is moving to San Jose CA from North Carolina to work at Silicon Valley. He is a believer in Christ and would like to find a Bible-believing church as soon as he can after moving. He doesn't know anyone there so he's starting his new life at ground zero. Anyone know of a good church in the San Jose area?

I hope he realizes how expensive it is to live in San Jose, and that are major parts of the city you really don't want to break down in . . .
But I love young people striking out in the world with no fear, and the intention of hard work. Awesome. Good luck to him.

I attend Bethel Church on Winchester. Excellent pastor who still speaks out against evil from the pulpit.

We go to Bethel Baptist in Morgan Hill (a bit south of San Jose). It is a good Bible believing Church.
ReformationFan also recommended the OPC churches. There are two local: Covenant OPC in San Jose near the Campbell area, and Sunnyvale OPC (in Sunnyvale - a few miles north of San Jose). I've been to both and they are very good (I just don't like the ESV, which the OPC has apparently adopted as their preferred version ... a personal quirk).

I was ordained to the Diaconate and Priesthood in that Church.

My sister lived in San Jose. But I’ve been away so long, I might just lose my way.

Which translation do you like best, El Cid?
To: ReformationFan
Textus Receptus/Majority Text for the New Testament Greek; the Authorized Version for the English translation.

Wow. Well I came to Los Gatos from St Columbas Inverness and found Christ the King was the replacement home while I was in the area. (6 years).

Agreed. Calvary Chapel is solid, spiritually refreshing, and devout - and I say that as a Catholic.
They also know how to have fun and take joy in the Word and the fellowship, and most members will always go out of their way to make a stranger feel like a welcome and old friend.

I have good memories of the Mission San Jose in Fremont. As a Girl Scout, our troop pulled weeds in the old cemetary for a service project. Our family went to mass there a few times.

I have a friend in Silicon Valley who goes to a church called Kingsway. He also has posted things on his FaceBook from Calvary Church in Los Gatos. Those would both be solid evangelical, family-oriented places. But your son may want to see if they also have young adult/single ministry if he is a recent grad.
