Thank you NKP vet. Actual history is with the Catholics. Luther is a weak vessel to lay a faith foundation upon - his switching the bible to sola fide and sola scriptura began a grave error.
Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman who converted to Catholicism (and was ostracized in many circles for it) said that: “to be deep in history is to cease to be protestant.”
PS Many former evangelical pastors such as Scott Hahn, Jimmy Akin, etc. became Catholic once they had a better understanding of church history.
St. Jerome is one of my all time favorite saints and I hope to read the book that you referenced.

It’s all good. Jesus knows who are His. I don’t think it matters which church one goes to. It’s what’s in the heart.
Nobody is laying any foundation on any men, much less Luther.
I do realize that Catholics are conditioned from birth to follow the human leadership of their church but those of us who are free in Christ, having been born again, follow Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
We don’t follow Luther, much as Catholics would like for us to do.
To be deep in Scripture is to cease to be Catholic.
Actual history is with the Jews, who were the historical instruments and stewards of Scripture, and inheritors of promises of Divine guidance, presence and perpetuation, (Lv. 10:11; Dt. 4:31; 17:8-13; Is. 41:10, Ps. 89:33,34) over whom sat those in the seat of Moses over Israel.
Since RCs argue this requires an assuredly infallible magisterium, why not follow them? Or can assurance of Truth (like what Scripture is and means) be obtained without a perpetual AIM (assuredly infallible magisterium)
to be deep in history is to cease to be protestant.
No, that is simply not true, as instead, outside Roman revisionist history, history is an argument against claims of Rome and her Peter and early papacy, and it is a fundamentally different church than the NT church, even from its basis assurance of Truth.
St. Jerome is one of my all time favorite saints and I hope to read the book that you referenced.
Who rejected apocryphal books along with other down thru history and right into Trent, while engaging in contrived interpretation of Scripture to support his unbalanced position against marriage.
Nobody is laying a foundation on Luther. That's only a figment of Catholic's imaginations. Some Catholic somewhere started with this *Protestants follow Luther* nonsense and they all jumped on the bandwagon as if it were fact.
Fact is, born again believers follow Christ, the foundation on which our faith is built. HE is the Rock and because of that, we will never be moved.
Problem Catholics can't seem to overcome is the concept that others don't follow earthly men as Catholics have been indoctrinated to do since birth.
It's hard to break a cult mindset of following man, but it is essential for one's spiritual well being.

Revisionist Catholic history is a weak vessel to lay a foundation on.
