I have to wonder though, if the Catholics ever really stopped to think about their reasoning. Satanists are attacking us therefore we must be right.

Their conclusion is too obvious. If Satan attacks Catholicism directly, we can argue its an endorsement. The scarier attack is from within, the angel in light or the minister, who is secretly all for the devil.
