The vast majority of such falls originate with the sin of pride: “pride cometh before a fall.....”

Part of the pride comes from men allowing themselves to be exalted by man/others to places and positions never really in God’s plan (building their own kingdoms instead of God’s), and the other part from believing that they cannot fall..........
