Over the span of several years, I was occasionally sent down to Manhattan to spend a day working at the NYC office. The Church of Our Saviour was several blocks away from the office and I would leave work a few minutes earlier in order ot stop by that church to seek a moment of quiet prayer amid the tumultuous life of NYC, before heading over to Penn Station to catch the train back up to Albany. It is a beautiful place of refuge. Should you ever come to NYC, make it a point to stop by that church, and St. Michael’s.

St. Agnes near Grand Central was my home base - I lived on 2nd & 44th. It was never quiet - in fact, it was overrun by Catholic commuters who dropped by to say prayers, drop dimes into the poor boxes and chat on the steps. I was there the day it burnt down - a truly awful event although they came back.
