St. Agnes Church alert! I used to walk down the stairs after Mass and see the friendly face of Father Rutler! Those were the days.

Thank you, NYer, for bringing attention to one of the great
men of our generation. A Renaissance Man. He speaks to me in
a special way because, as the article describes, he makes references
to a host of far-flung people and ideas, but threads them together.
His illustrations of his points strike home with greater power
because of the starkness of his analogies. I am ordering this book pronto.
